Girl Scout Cookies For The Troops!

I don't know about you, but I love cookies.  And Girl Scout cookies - watch out!

Just hand me a frozen Thin Mint - instant smile!  Along with eating cookies, I appreciate the young ladies who are selling them too.  I love their spirit, dedication and hard work.  It's all admirable.

This year, I would like to thank Girl Scout Troop 44620 of River Forest.  They are donating, and soon sending, cookies to sailors who are deployed on boats overseas and near Haiti.  I can't wait to hear the sailors' response!

I have heard from some of you as well.  And some way, somehow, I would like to connect people who want to donate to organizations who accept those donations.  I'm hoping this blog can be a meeting point.

So here are a few organizations who will accept cookies:

Operation Support Our Troops - Illinois

Citizen Sam

Now, here's the hard part.  I know there are dozens of troops in northern Illinois who have banded together to send cookies to the troops.  I'm hoping to hear from their organizer soon.  When I do, I'll be sure to pass along information!

In the meantime, let me throw another box of Thin Mints in the freezer!

Three Girl Scout troops in Gurnee have collected donations and sent over 375 boxes of Girl Scout cookies over to troops in Afghanistan. They teamed up with the Chicago Bears who supported the girls' efforts by covering the shipping costs. The cookies were sent to a unit with local military members out of Great Lakes.
